Real Madrid could resign Mesut Ozil, according to reports in Spain.
Ozil is currently into the final year of his contract and talks to get him to commit his future to Arsenal have slowed down drastically in recent months.
The midfielder was the subject of interest from Barcelona in the summer and has been recently linked with Manchester United and Inter Milan.
He could now find himself in the centre of a transfer war as Real are reportedly weighing up whether to sign him or not.
According to Don Balon via the Daily Cannon, Real Madrid included a buy back clause in Ozil’s contract when he was joining Arsenal in 2013 and could now use the clause to bring him back to the Bernabeu.
Real already boasts one of the best midfield in the world but the report has given a rather funny reason why they would be keen to bring Ozil back.
It is claimed that the aim is to stop Barcelona from signing the German.
If there is any truth in this report, it means Madrid will have to sign Ozil in January. The midfielder’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season and if it does, Madrid won’t be able to trigger the clause because the player won’t be contracted to us any longer.
