Arsenal and Chelsea are preparing to make a cut-price move to sign Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to the Metro.
The 22-year-old has been struggling for game time under Jose Mourinho after spending last campaign on loan at Valencia. He has made just five appearances this season.
The Brazilian’s contract expires at the end of this season and has an option to extend the deal for a further 12 months.
It is now believed that the Red Devils want to cash in on him instead in January and he is no short of admirers who would want to take him in.
Valencia are interested in signing him permanently after he had a successful loan spell with them last season.
The Sunday Mirror claims that Arsenal are also interested as the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat views the midfielder as an ‘ideal solution’ for the Gunners squad.
It seems quite logical that the Gunners would be making a move for the player who is believed will cost as low as just £10 million.
The Gunners are set to lose Aaron Ramsey after they withdrew their contract offer to him a couple of months ago. He is now set to leave the Emirates either in January or at the end of the season and the Gunners will be looking to replace him.
At £10 million Pereira would represent the cheapest option of his quality. The skillful Brazilian who can play in central midfield as well as on the flanks is blessed with good vision, pass range, technique and deadly set-piece ability.
He looks likely to be a very good replacement for Ramsey, and we’ll see in January whether the Gunners will take up the golden opportunity.
