Luke Shaw’s days as a Manchester United player is coming to an end, with The Independent claiming that the club is ready to cut their losses in January.
Shaw moved to Manchester United from Southampton for £30 million in 2014, becoming the world’s most expensive defender at the time. Overtime, the left-back has struggled with loss of form and injuries including a broken leg.
Jose Mourinho seems to have lost patience in his inability to consistently prove his fitness and form, along with the fact that Ashley Young has been exceptional at left back this season. Shaw is now seen as surplus to requirement and would be shipped out in January.
Despite paying £30 million over three years ago, United are willing to sell him for £20 million and will go no lower.
Shaw has been unfortunate in his career so far, after taking time to adapt at Man United following his high profile move at a young age, he suffered a broken leg just when he had begun to show his worth and hasn’t been the same since then.
I wouldn’t want to see such potential leave just like that, a loan move would be better in my opinion, regular first team football is what he needs to get his abilities out.
