Louis Saha has slammed Anthony Martial after it emerged the French forward wants to leave Manchester United with Arsenal in line to grab the sensational attacker this summer.
United spent an initial £36million on Martial in 2015 when they secured the then-teenager’s signature on a four-year deal.
The former Monaco star has shown glimpses of his potential at Old Trafford but failed to cement a regular spot in the first-team last season.
He played back-up to January signing Alexis Sanchez and will look to move this summer to revive his career, his agent has said.
Former France star Saha, who spent four years at Manchester United, said: ‘I think it’s a shame to see him wanting to leave already.
‘I recognise for example when David Bellion was signed during my time at the club he was frustrated he wasn’t playing all the time but he was playing with big players Giggsy and Ronaldo those players, but he wanted to play right now but he was so young.
‘It was already in that generation where players were impatient. Why? Because of social media and the agents, they don’t understand they have to prove themselves.
‘If something is hard they have to maintain their levels and say “hang on a minute maybe I haven’t done enough”.
‘It shouldn’t be like “maybe it’s Mourinho’s fault”, yes there are always excuses but when you’re good you play. That’s it.
‘If I’m not playing it’s because I’m not scoring enough goals or creating enough, so that’s why he’s got to show people that he’s more than good enough.’
While Martial’s agent confirmed last week that the 22-year-old would look to move on this summer, United will only allow him to leave if they receive an attractive proposal.
Recent reports say the Red Devils have slapped a £75million price-tag on the winger’s head.
