Manchester United are facing up to the prospect of missing out on Ajax wonderkid Justin Kluivert after a breakdown in their relationship with agent Mino Raiola, according to reports.
Kluivert, son of former Barcelona striker Patrick, is one of Europe’s hottest young properties after another impressive campaign, scoring 10 times and laying on a further five assists in 30 Eredivisie appearances this season.
He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since Jose Mourinho was spotted chatting to him after United’s Europa League final win over Ajax last season.
However, Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim that any hopes of bringing Kluivert to Manchester have been hampered by the involvement of Raiola, who recently agreed to represent the 19-year-old.
The notorious agent had a thriving relationship with United not so long ago, but it has deteriorated quickly as a host of his players have left Old Trafford.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both departed to join LA Galaxy and Arsenal respectively, while Romelu Lukaku switched to a new management team.
His last remaining client is Paul Pogba, who found himself out of the United team after several bust-ups with Mourinho, and Raiola is unhappy with the treatment of the French midfielder.
As a result, Raiola wants ‘revenge’ and is pushing Kluivert to forget about moving to United, instead encouraging the youngster to pick Everton as his next club.
Ajax could demand as much as £35m for the Netherlands international, who is out of contract next summer and yet to sign a new deal, while other European giants – such as Roma – are also circling.
