Arsenal-linked Marcelino is reportedly in London for talks amid links to both the Gunners and Everton.
According to reports in Spain from Mundo Deportivo, as cited on talkSPORT, the former Valencia has touched down in the capital as Arsenal step up their pursuit for an Unai Emery replacement.
The report claims that the 54-year-old is to hold talks with Arsenal over their vacant managerial job.
Marcelino has been heavily linked with the job, along with Manchester City number two Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal potentially appointing a Spanish manager with a semi-reasonable record in La Liga will have supporters feeling like they’re going back in time.
The links do draw a lot of similarities to Unai Emery’s time at the club and it’s unlikely to be a move that will inspire a tremendous amount of confidence in the Arsenal fan base after Emery’s previous spell in charge.
Given the current mess that the Gunners find themselves in, many fans appear to be looking for a more experienced manager to come in and steady the ship before the club look to rebuild.
Names like Massimo Allegri, Mauricio Pochettino and Carlo Ancelotti have all been mentioned, with all three boasting a much better track record when compared to someone like Marcelino.
