Manchester United have are reportedly interested in signing Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas.

According to reports, United are preparing a £32.4m (€36 million) bid for Roma’s Greek defender Manolas, who has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Serie A.

The Red Devils have conceded a whopping 32 goals in just 20 league games thus far, with the likes of Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling all failing to make the center-back spot their own.

The 27-year-old has been with the Rome side for over four years and has established himself as one of the most reliable centre-halves in the Serie A.

There had been reports of the Red Devils have rekindled their interest in Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld, who was a target in the summer transfer window, while a move for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly was also mooted.

He is also seen as a cheap alternative to the likes of Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly, both of whom United tried to lure to Old Trafford unsuccessfully.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is believed to be an admirer of Manolas from his time in charge of Napoli, while Arsenal also retained an interest.
