Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already confirmed to fans there will be plenty of transfer activity in the off season.
According to Sky Sports reporter James Cooper, United could sign as much as six players this summer.
The future of some United stars is in doubt, including three of the highest earners at the club in Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and David de Gea.
Cooper reckons that could mean there are up to six new faces coming through the door.
“Manchester United are content to move on [from De Ligt], they will look at other targets this summer,” Cooper told Sky Sports News.
“I think there is a whole list and a whole raft of options for Manchester United.
“I think one of the questions comes down to who will be leaving as much as who will be coming, to decide what opportunities they want to exploit
“But there’s no doubting that they need some reinforcement at the back.
“There’s an argument that they need it at the front and middle as well.
“I think it will be a busy summer for Manchester United.
“I think all that will be occupying [Solskjaer’s] mind at the moment is just how big an overhaul.
“They’ve certainly got the resources to do it, Manchester United will back him to do that.
“But I think when you talk about the number of targets, I would expect four or five, maybe even half a dozen new players come in over the summer.
“But of course that largely depends on which players they allow to leave and which spaces they then need to fill.
“But it’s certainly going to be busy.”
