Manchester United have ‘started negotiations’ on €100m+ signing – Plan to ‘win race’ for player

Manchester United are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for Champions League football.

The Red Devils have upped their interest in Benfica’s Joao Felix, after sending scouts to watch him in Portugal for fresh checks on the teenage sensation.

The 19-year-old scored in a 4-1 win for his side over Santa Clara in Lisbon on Saturday, to help them seal the Primeira Liga title.

Sunday’s edition of Record reports the Old Trafford club and Atletico Madrid both intend to ‘win the race’ for his signing.

The report states that United have already ‘started negotiations’ and it’s claimed they’d even be prepared to meet the player’s €120m clause.

At Atletico, they see him as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann.

Record states ‘the next few weeks will be decisive’ in the potential transfer.

The Red Devils’ official will have seen João Félix score a really nice goal to put his side 2-0 ahead.

Real Madrid , Barcelona and Man City are all said to been keen on the youngster, whilst Juventus have already had a £75m bid rejected.

Felix has made waves in Europe this season, scoring 20 goals and making 11 assists in his debut campaign.

The attacking midfielder has rose through the ranks at his current club, and could now be on course to make his full international debut, having represented Portugal at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level.
