Juventus have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to Goal.

The Serbia international is a man in demand and a player considered to be a more suitable financial option for the Bianconeri than Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt.

Goal claims Milenkovic is not looking for a move—he has a contract to 2022—and that Fiorentina have no intention of selling him.

However, United and Juve both boast the reputation and financial clout to attract just about any player they want.

The Red Devils’ need for a new centre-back is glaring but are yet to make a formal offer for the Serb defender.

Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move for a new centre back in January after failing to secure the services of Harry Maguire of Leicester and Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham in summer.

The Portuguese manager does not boast of a reliable defender in his squad, and it shows, as United have conceded 21 goals in 13 Premier League games this season.

He has played every minute of Fiorentina’s 13 Serie A games this season, chipping in with two goals.

Barcelona and Manchester City are also understood to be among his many suitors, and that is likely to drive up any asking price.
