According to a report via the Sun, Manchester United will reportedly break the bank in the January transfer window to strengthen the squad after a slow start this season losing to Brighton 3-2.

The report claims the Red Devils will not be held to ransom and will only sign players they deem to be good value for money.

United were linked with a host of star defender over the summer with Mourinho keen on a deal for Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld but Ed Woodward found him to expensive leaving United to explorer for other alternative targets Jerome Boateng to be short-term fixes, while Harry Maguire was considered too expensive and Yerry Mina’s agent fees were said to be too high.

It is understood United will go all out for a new centre-back when the transfer window opens and United will be looking to sign Alderweireld despite Spurs demanding £75million for his signature

The Reds’ failure to recruit a new centre-back could be irked to  Woodward who is majorly in charge of transfer at United.
