Over the summer Chelsea were linked with a move for Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain and report states he could be on the move in January having struggled for form at the San Siro, with it now being suggested that the Rossoneri will not sign the player permanently.
According to reports in Italy from Corriere dello Sport, as cited on Calciomercato, the player is ‘waiting for Sarri’s call’ ahead of a potential move to Italy.
The Argentina striker was loaned to the San Siro side for €18 million — with a €36m option to buy — at the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
However, budget concerns at the San Siro could see the Rossoneri return him sooner than expected.
Higuain has scored seven goals in 13 appearances for the Rossoneri so far, but Corriere dello Sport claims that he is eager to move to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old is reportedly waiting for Maurizio Sarri to make his move as Chelsea consider reviving their interest as early as the January transfer window.
Chelsea are thought to be in the market for a new striker due to ongoing reservations over the ability of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud to lead them to a sustained title challenge.
