Argentine international striker Gonzalo Higuain has completed his complex loan move to Chelsea from Juventus, according to tweets from Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer is a loan-to-buy option in either six months or 18 months from now. The specifics of the timetable are believed to be performance-based, with Chelsea having the option to extend the loan if certain incentives aren’t reached.

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, wants the club to wrap up a deal for Higuain so that he can unleash the striker against Arsenal this weekend.

The Blues reached an agreement with Juventus for Higuain after the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday night, with the 31-year-old set to complete a temporary move to Stamford Bridge until the summer.

If Higuain meets targets set for him by Chelsea, including appearances and goals, it will automatically trigger a further one-year loan in the deal.

The Blues are set to unveil him in the coming hours and it’s expected that Alvaro Morata will join Atletico Madrid.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are hopeful that the Argentina international will be available to make his Premier League debut at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

Chelsea have until 12pm on Friday to officially register the 31-year-old as a member of the squad for the striker to be able to feature against Unai Emery’s side at Emirates Stadium the following day.

The Blues have already discussed personal terms with the former Napoli star’s brother and agent Nicolas and are prepared to take on his £150,000-a-week salary.

The deal is still being held up while AC Milan try to secure a replacement, but the Serie A club are closing in on Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek.
