According to Calcio Mercato,AS Roma are keen to make him their new manager in the summer as they look to replace current head coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

The former Napoli boss – exiled in Naples when he was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti – only joined Chelsea last summer.

But transfer frustrations across two windows and a difficulty to ’inspire’ his players is affected the Italian.

Sarri has criticised his players in recent weeks as the team drop further away from the title race.

Corriere dello Sport claim that bosses in the capital are not yet ready to sack Di Francesco.

But the axe could well be wielded soon.

The report says Sarri would be a target if Roma begin their search for a new manager at the end of the season.

Roma had previously wanted the Italian when he was on the verge of leaving Napoli.

But the went for Di Francesco instead, with the former Italy midfielder taking over from Luciano Spalletti.

Chelsea battled hard to get Sarri last summer and are very unlikely to let him leave, unless form dips severely.

The paid a reported £4.4m to prise him out of his Napoli contract, while sacking Conte at the same time.

That sacking cost the club around £9m, with Conte still being paid until his terms expire in the summer.
