According to the Daily Record, Jose Mourinho is still keen on bolstering his defensive options and has continued to demand a new centre-back.

The Portuguese manager is determined to sign a central defender, with Kalidou Koulibaly the latest name in his sights.

The Manchester United manager has been on the lookout for a central defender since the previous transfer window.

However, Ed Woodward decided that Toby Alderweireld was not any better than Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.

United were also linked with Diego Godin, Yerry Mina and Harry Maguire but no player arrived. However, there have been suggestions that he will receive £100 million funds for the upcoming transfer window.

Napoli reportedly values the Senegal international, who has over four years left on his contract, at £88 million  ($112.81m).

It is understood United must offload one of their central defenders before considering a new signing and Marcos Rojo or Phil Jones could be the two who could make way in January.

The Metro claims Mourinho has instructed the United board to seal a deal for the Senegalese defender in January.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly among the Premier League clubs interested in pricing Eric Bailly from Old Trafford.

If Bailly does leave, the Express write that Arsenal have been touted with a move for him. Unai Emery knows the 24-year-old pretty well from his time in Spain, as the Ivory Coast international played for Espanyol and Villarreal whilst Emery was with Sevilla.
