Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reported to have held talks with Paris Saint Germain about signing Aaron Ramsey, according to talkSPORT.
The longest serving Arsenal manager is trying to block a move for Ramsey to join a fellow Premier League rival by working with the Ligue 1 giants in a deal to snap up the midfielder.
The Welshman is set to leave the Emirates after the club withdrew their offer to extend his current deal which expires at the end of the season.
He has been strongly linked to Bayern Munich, and some other rumors have linked him to Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus.
Reports now claim that Wenger has told the Ligue 1 giants to grab the opportunity and sign him before someone else does.
Wenger who has turned down coaching offers from the Paris based club numerous times in the past is said to be close to the club, and is reported to have spoken to current manager Thomas Tuchel about Ramsey.
The Frenchman knows all about the 27-year-old having signed him from Cardiff City himself in 2008 for Arsenal and molding him into the player he is today.
Ramsey can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, and Bayern are believed to have sent scouts to watch him during Wales 2-1 defeat to Denmark in the UEFA Nations League match.
His boss in the Wales national team, Ryan Giggs is not surprised about the interest in the midfielder, he said: “He’s been linked with everyone, which is expected because he’s a quality player.”
Wales captain Ashley Williams is of the same opinion. “I’m sure a lot of the big teams will be interested in him.
“It’s not really a surprise because his quality speaks for itself.”
