Everton boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in signing Arsenal outcast Theo Walcott on a permanent deal this January, according to the Daily Cannon.

Walcott has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this month, with a number of clubs including Southampton, Everton and AC Milan cited as possible destinations.

Everton are willing to foot Walcott’s wages and are in the process of discussing a transfer fee with the Gunners.

Allardyce has not hidden his interest in the former England international, saying Walcott would be a great addition. “You’re all aware of our interest in Theo Walcott. If that can be sorted out, which is very difficult, then he’d be a great addition,”

“Some negotiations are going on. [The deal] is permanent, I don’t think there’s any chance of a loan. We’ll wait and see.”

Theo Walcott has struggled for game time this season, falling further down the pecking order behind Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi in the battle for playing time, having made just five appearances in the league this season.

When asked about Walcott and Sam Allardyce’s statement, Arsene Wenger made no efforts to assure the forward of playing time, but stated that he is still an Arsenal player.

“I cannot give him assurances as it is not honest.

“We will see. We have a good relationship.

“I don’t want him to lose an opportunity to go to the World Cup.

“He went in 2006 and we are now in 2018 and he hasn’t been since for different reasons.”

“Sam Allardyce has made that statement but Theo Walcott is here.”

Walcott would be better off moving to Everton than staying at Arsenal, and if Everton have any of the money they spent during the summer left, a deal could materialize.
