The 18-year-old was a second half substitute during the 1-0 victory over Newcastle at the weekend and received high praise from Arsenal’s newest recruit, Luiz .
He orchestrated a shock switch to the Emirates from rivals Chelsea on deadline day but was an unused substitute at St. James’ Park.
According to football.london , the 32-year-old centre-half believes Martinelli can become a great player and wants to help the teenager’s development.
He said: “He is a young player, he’s talented and everyone speaks very well about him, everyone is excited because they know he has the potential to become a fantastic player soon and in the future.
“It will be good to work with him, try to help him and also give him a bit of my experience in football around the world. I hope we both can do big things here.”
Luiz’s debut will not be far away as the charismatic defender is reunited with Unai Emery having worked under the Spaniard during their days at Paris Saint-Germain .
