Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is refusing to lower his £350,000-a-week wage demands as talks stall over a new deal, according to the Mirror.

The Spaniard is happy to commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford club – but only on wages that would make him United’s second-highest earner behind Alexis Sanchez.

The Red Devils are reluctant to meet De Gea’s demands but are confident a compromise can be reached.

The Spaniard currently earns £200,000 and wants it upgraded to £350,000-per-week to become second highest paid star.

De Gea’s contract expires at the end of this season but the Red Devils have triggered the one year extension on his deal

United are said to be looking for ways to keep the goalkeeper at the club but are not interested in meeting his demands.

Should they agree to pay him the fee, De Gea will become the second-highest earner at the club after Alexis Sanchez.

De Gea has been in goal for the Red Devils in all 26 Premier League matches this campaign – with six clean sheets and 15 wins so far.
