Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a new transfer.

According to reports from Italy, Juventus defender Daniele Rugani is expected to sign for the Gunners.

It is understood that Arsenal have increased their bids for Rugani and RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The departure of Laurent Koscielny this week to Bordeaux meant that the Gunners have to bring in defensive reinforcements.

Rugani is keen to make the move to the Emirates after he was told to look for a new club by Juventus.  The arrival of Dutch ace Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax meant that Rugani is surplus to requirements at the Italian club.

It is thought that the Gunners had already had a two-year loan deal for Rugani rejected by Juventus.  Arsenal have already tabled an improved offer of a loan deal with a mandatory option to buy the player next summer for £27.6 million.

Rugani is regarded in Italy as a player that can develop into a quality center-back. He is solid on the ball and has excellent positioning which would be good news for Arsenal fans.

Arsenal are also reportedly closing in on a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney in what is looking like a big summer for the club.
