Joel Campbell could be shown the exit door at Arsenal after report claims he is closing in on a deal to Galatasaray, according to Turkish-Football who cites reports from local outlet Takvim.
Turkish-Football report though. They write ‘Campbell’s contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the month’, when in reality the forward has a contract with the club until the summer of 2019.
The report claims the Turkish club have been in talks with the Costa Rica striker who have failed to break into the Arsenal’s starting XI.
He was signed from Costa Rican outfit Saprissa in 2014, he was unable to play for Arsenal due to work permit issues meant he had to wait an age for his chance in the first-team.
The 25-year-old joined the club in 2014 but hasn’t played for the Gunners in the last two years after loan spells with Sporting Lisbon and Real Betis.
Wenger chose to send Campbell to Portugal in 2016 after a decent campaign at the Emirates and many Gooners were disappointed to see him leave over the likes of Theo Walcott.
It is believed the Turkish club are either planning on a loan deal or pay Arsenal a transfer fee for his signature.
However, The Gunners wished good luck to ‘all’ three of their participating players – Granit Xhaka, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Alex Iwobi – in Friday World Cup fixtures but forgot that Campbell was playing.
