Paris Saint Germain have made N’Golo Kante their top target next summer, according to reports.
Kante is the current PFA player of the year and one can hardly disagree that it is fully deserved after his title winning performances for both Chelsea last year and Leicester City the year before.
He has established himself as one of Europe’s best midfielders and PSG are now keen to make him their next big money signing.
The French club signed Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr in the summer for a combined fee that would reach £300m but it seems they aren’t willing to stop there as they are planning to spend big on Kante next summer.
According to the Mirror the French club have set aside a £90m budget to sign the midfielder.
The midfielder who is from Paris rejected a move to PSG before he joined Chelsea but that doesn’t look like it has deterred the French club who are desperate to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Champions League title.
Chelsea are unlikely to sanction such a deal even though it would receive more than double the amount they paid for the midfielder in 2015. It’s going to be difficult to replace Kante and again selling him will send a message to fans and rival clubs that we aren’t interested in building a team capable of challenging for titles.
Kante is just into the first two years of his five year contract at Chelsea, meaning the club still have the power to decide what happens with him, whether he leaves or not.
