Arsenal are reportedly set to join the battle with an already active opponent Manchester City to sign Leicester City’s want away winger Riyad Mahrez in the summer, according to Daily Star.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reported to have regularly made checks on the Leicester star Riyad Mahrez by inquiring about his character and how he trains.
Leicester City declined Manchester City’s bid for the 26-year-old Winger Riyad Mahrez late in the January window. After a transfer failed to materialize, the Algerian International has been missing from training.
Speaking after Leicester’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City on Saturday, foxes boss Claude Puel said he was hopeful Riyad Mahrez would be reintegrated into the squad again.
Claude Puel said: “after some time, he will come back to us, he is our friend and I think all the staff and all the players will help him to come back with a good mentality and a positive attitude and to enjoy his football with his team-mates.”
Arsenal hopes to successfully conclude a transfer for the Algerian international from Leicester City this summer.
Do you think Wenger will ever sign Mahrez?
