Arsene Wenger has reportedly told Theo Walcott he can leave the Emirates in the January transfer window.
Walcott has been on the fringes of first team football at Arsenal since Wenger switched to the 3-4-3 formation and has found it difficult to force his way back into the starting xi.
He was heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates in the summer but he opted to stay to fight for a place in Wenger’s team, despite interest from a host of Premier League clubs.
However, the winger’s situation hasn’t improved since the beginning of the season, making just 10 appearances so far.
Th Sun via the Express are now saying Wenger has given him the permission to find a new club in January.
It’s being claimed Walcott is no longer a part of Wenger’s plans and the manager would prefer to sell him to raise funds to strengthen the squad.
A couple of Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in the winger already.
His former club Southampton are believed to be leading the race for his signature, with West Ham following closely.
Walcott’s exit will see the club bring an end it’s union with his current longest serving player.
The winger joined Arsenal as a 16 year old in 2006 but has failed to fulfill the potential that made the club desperately sign him ahead of other top English clubs.
With his contract expiring in 2019, January would be a perfect time to sell and get good cash.
