Roma vs. Inter Milan: Match Preview and Team News

AS Roma may have finished the 2017/2018 season without any silverware, but no one can doubt their incredible showing. The Eusebio Di Francesco-led team finished third on the Serie A log as well as playing in the UEFA Champions League semi-final losing to a determined Liverpool side.

The Italian club were beyond excellent against Barcelona as they battled it out with the Catalans till the Spanish club was eliminated. They tried a similar scenario, but luck was never on their side.

While they have also done quite well in the Champions League this season, they have been below par in the Italian Serie A, especially in the last five matches during which they have racked up a single win. However, the Serie A odds have revealed that they are likely going to finish in the top three of the League log.

AS Roma are presently languishing in the 7th position, 21 points away from leaders Juventus who won their Saturday fixture against Fiorentina thanks to goals from Betancur, Chiellini, and Ronaldo. In fact, Roma have just seven points between them and Bologna who lie 18th on the log; and are just three points apart Genoa who lie 14th. The match, therefore, is a must-win for the club.

In a different story, Inter Milan have been enjoying an awesome season as they sit third on the league with 28 points after 13 matches. There is a single point between them and 2nd placed Napoli. While Juventus on 40 points are a pipe dream for other teams, Inter have made Napoli and AC Milan [lie 4th with 25 points] their main rivals for the second and third positions in the league.

It should be recalled that Inter Milan finished five points below AS Roma in the 2017/18 season. However, the form they are in right now suggests that the club’s rebuild project is coming to life.

Following a tough start to the 18/19 Serie A season, Inter Milan have won 8 of their previous 9 games, and could qualify to the next round of the UCL with a match to go. Inter also have an envious away record that makes them lethal this evening: they have won 7 of their previous 9 away games in the Serie A.

That said, the match which will kick off in hours promises to be a show of attacking moves as both Roma and Inter have scored 22 goals and 25 goals respectively in the league this season. In the previous 9 away games, Inter Milan have scored 3 or more goals in 7 matches; while Roma have scored at least 3 goals in 5 of their previous 6 games.

AS Roma will have to play the crucial match without their attacking players Edin Dzeko and Stephen El Shaarawy. It I also reported that Lorenzo Pellegrini and Daniele De Rossi will also be absent, while Diego Perotti and Javier Pastore are doubtful selection due to injury.

Former Roma engine rom Radja Nainggolan is unlikely to feature against his old team as well as Sime Vrsalijko. Meanwhile, Dalbert’s absence has well been confirmed ahead of the kick-off, this is according to Goal.
