Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Real Madrid team-mates about the startlingly low offer Tottenham have made for Gareth Bale.
Bale has endured an injury hit past couple of years at the Bernabeu and is expected to move on in the summer.
A return to the Premier League, where he made his name, has been heavily touted with a cluster of clubs linked with moves.
Manchester United and Chelsea are said to be the sides most likely to have a chance of snaring Bale if he’s put up for sale.
Tottenham have emerged as a serious candidate too, although they’ll have to up their reported offer to get a deal over the line.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Real chief Florentino Perez is trying to cover up the fact that just one bid has been made for Bale.
But it’s apparently too late because Ronaldo has passed on the news to other members of the Real dressing room.
Don Balon indicate Tottenham’s supposed £54m (€60m) proposal has been deemed ‘ridiculous’ by Real.
However, Spurs seem unlikely to offer much more if the report in question is to be believed.
The report claims Tottenham would consider selling Harry Kane to Real, but only if they are handed a massive fee for their talisman.
Tottenham are allegedly willing to allot just a small portion of that to re-signing Bale.
It remains to be seen whether Real will lower their valuation of Bale, who’s peripheral role has been made clear under Zinedine Zidane.
