Jorginho’s agent has urged Maurizio Sarri to make a move for Gonzalo Higuain to ‘boost’ his squad at Chelsea, the Sun report.
Sarri was keen to sign Higuain ahead of the 2018/19 campaign after working with the striker at Napoli, but Chelsea were put off by the 30-year-old’s price tag.
Higuain claimed he joined AC Milan this summer after being forced out of Juventus to make way for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Higuain controversially joined Juventus from Napoli in 2016 for a then Italian record €90 million fee and scored 55 goals in 105 appearances while claiming successive Serie A titles.
The Argentinian striker joined Milan on loan in August shortly after Ronaldo’s arrival was confirmed and the Argentina international has managed seven goals in his opening 13 appearances for the Serie A outfit.
The forward equalled the Serie A record with 36 goals in his final season at Napoli under Sarri and Jorginho’s representative, Joao Santos, hopes the pair will be reunited at Stamford Bridge in the near future.
‘I do not know [about Higuain at Chelsea], he told Italian radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli.
‘Obviously, I am cheering for the Blues. His arrival would give the squad a big boost.’
Higuain revealed last month that Sarri was alone at Chelsea in wanting him to join the club. ‘Sarri was the only one to want me at Chelsea,’ he said.
‘Everybody wanted me at AC Milan, while in London I was only wanted by the manager.
‘AC Milan insisted to sign me, Elliott [Management] made a big effort for me and Leonardo, [Paolo] Maldini and [Gennaro] Gattuso know the club very well.
‘I really appreciated their approach during the negotiation.’
