Houssem Aouar is reportedly being watched by Chelsea amid interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool
According to reports in France from RMC, as cited on the Metro, the Italian head coach is keen to bring the Lyon star to the Premier League.
Aouar, 20, has scored five league goals this season and has caught the eye with his performances so far. Aouar was nominated for the 2018 Golden Boy award.
He is a technically gifted ace that can play anywhere across the midfield and is the latest rising star to come out of the highly successful Lyon academy.
The France Under-21 international is the type of player missing from the ranks at Stamford Bridge right now and Chelsea interest makes perfect sense.
The report claims Sarri remains interested in strengthening his midfield, despite the signings of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, who joined from Napoli and Real Madrid respectively in the summer.
Aouar pursuit would only make sense if we are not able to purchase Kovacic on a permanent basis. Further limiting Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s minutes on the pitch would be a hindrance to their development.
Aouar, who is valued at £30 million by Lyon, is believed to be the man Sarri wants in his midfield.
Lyon are refusing to sell in January, meaning a summer move is more likely, Barcelona are said to be keeping a close eye on the player who is very highly rated in Ligue 1.
