Mario Hermoso is a target of Arsenal this summer as Unai Emery looks for defensive reinforcements, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
The Espanyol defender has been one of the surprise packages in La Liga this season, earning a call-up to the Spain national team for the first time last November, the 23-year-old played 35 games, scoring three goals as Espanyol achieved a respectable seventh-place finish.
He only joined the Catalan club in 2017 from Real Madrid in a €400k deal while he has a contract until 2020 with a €40m release clause in place.
Unai Emery wants to strengthen his defence this summer after missing out on a top-four finish by a single point.
And with doubts over a number of his players – including defender Shkodran Mustafi – a swoop for the £18million rated Espanyol star could be on the cards.
However, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in Hermoso.
