Chelsea have been told to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson by former Blues defender Jason Cundy.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, former Chelsea player Cundy believes the English striker would be perfect for Maurizio Sarri’s side, following suggestions he could be on the move in January.

“It’s still early days but he’s starting to reach the same sort of levels even if it’s only ten games where he is now starting to score the sort of goals that will start to catch the eye,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.

“He’s going to catch the eye. He’s got an eye for goal, I love his industry and he works incredibly hard.

“Let’s not forget he’s had two bad injuries and he’s had the mental strength to come back from those devastating knee injuries.

“A potential international in the future? I don’t doubt that for a second.

“If he carries on the way he is I think [Gareth] Southgate would be mad to ignore him, mad.

“So the question is who will look to sign him in January before his stock rises to a ridiculous level?

“I’m looking at my club, Chelsea. We’ve got two No 9’s in Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud. Neither of them are holding down a regular spot.

“And I think with the way Chelsea are playing under Maurizio Sarri, Callum Wilson would be perfect for Chelsea, perfect.”

It is understood that the Cherries were ready to demand £25 million for the player. The news was something of a surprise, considering the striker’s previous injury record.

Wilson has been sensational for Bournemouth at the start of the current campaign. His record of six goals and five assists in 12 games this season is sensational.

Chelsea could be in the market for a striker when the January window opens.

Neither Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have impressed on a consistent basis this season, with Sarri yet to decide on who his first-choice forward is.
