Chelsea are confident of securing midfielder N’Golo Kante to a new long-term contract, per Goal.
The France World Cup winner, who attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the summer, has over two-and-a-half years remaining on his present deal at Stamford Bridge.
Kante is believed to be in advanced talks over signing a new £290,000-a-week contract with the Blues, a deal that would see him become the club’s highest-paid player.
The deal in question is believed to be a new 5-year contract for the defensive midfielder who has been sublime since completing his move from Leicester City back in 2016.
Kante’s current contract, worth £150,000-a-week, expires in 2021 and Chelsea have no interest in cashing in on one of their most important players.
The Frenchman has had to get used to a new position under Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte as coach in July, being handed a more attacking role in a three-man midfield to the right of Jorginho.
Despite still adapting to the change, Kante is one of seven Chelsea players that has started every League game under Sarri.
The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from then-Premier League champions Leicester in July 2016 and helped the Blues win the title in his first campaign.
He has made 105 appearances in total since arriving from Leicester, scoring four goals.
