Arsenal’s hopes of securing another Dani Ceballos loan deal have taken a hit after the star was spotted in a Real Betis jersey.

The Spanish midfielder left the club for a move to fellow La Liga side Real Madrid before eventually arriving in the Premier League.

His time at the Santiago Bernabeu didn’t go to plan, with Arsenal securing a loan deal in 2019.

But since then, talk of a potential return to Betis has never quite gone away – despite the Gunners keen to keep the 24-year-old.

Ceballos is enjoying some down time after Arsenal’s FA Cup final success and was spotted in the kit he used to sport while playing a game of Parcheesi with his friends on Monday evening.

“I have a lot of love for Betis, for everyone that works at the club,” said the midfielder recently.

“They know the love I have for them and we’ve been in contact all season. Betis means a lot to me.”

Speaking about Ceballos’ future at Arsenal before the end of the season, Arteta said: “I’m really happy with him.

“The way he’s evolving, and I love how much he likes to play football – the passion he puts into every training session and every game, you just have to see his celebrations.

“I think he’s evolving in the right way and he’s becoming a really important player for us.”

But Liverpool star Adrian, who also played for Betis himself, thinks Ceballos would love a return to the club at some point.

“It’s his decision. I know that him being a Betis fan he would love to return,” he told El Desmarque earlier this year.

“The situation would have to come to fruition because he’s a Real Madrid player, but you always like to come back home.

“I think if he has the chance to do that, considering that he’s still very young, he will have the chance to prove his worth. So why not?”

Ceballos joined Betis in 2011, making 105 appearances in six years.
