Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Alvaro Morata has already justified his £75m price tag.
Chelsea broke it’s club record transfer fee to sign Morata in the summer and Gerrard believes the striker is already showing he is worth every penny.
Morata has scored seven goals in his first eight games at Chelsea and Gerrard has praised the Spaniard’s quick adaptation.
He also had good words for Antonio Conte who has managed to guide Chelsea closer to the top of the table after the opening day loss against Burnley.
“Yeah he (Conte) has (turned it around quickly),” Gerrard said on BT Sport.
“That’s what quality managers do, they turn it on at the right times.
“You always knew with the personnel in the Chelsea squad they would get it right.
“There was also question marks about Morata at the beginning of the season after such a hefty transfer fee.
“But he’s firing, Chelsea are firing.”
Giroud also compared Morata to former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres who began his Premier League career at Liverpool before moving to Stamford Bridge.
“When I saw the goals at the weekend against Stoke, I played with a player at Liverpool, Fernando Torres as you know,” he added.
“When he came to Liverpool he was on fire.
“He reminds me in his movement, in the way he runs, the start he’s made at Chelsea to Torres’ start at Chelsea. He reminds me of him a lot.”
Indeed Morata is already prooving Chelsea were right to spend all that money on him.
He’s begun life at the club in impressive fashion and all Chelsea fans are happy he is proving to be a great signing.
