Arsenal are in a battle with Chelsea, Everton and a number of German clubs for the signature of Hamburg defender Josha Vagnoman, according to reports on ESPN FC.
The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in German football at the moment after making his first team debut against league champions Bayern Munich at the age of just 17 years and three months, making him the second youngest ever Bundesliga debutant.
His progress has been monitored by top clubs, with Chelsea reported to have been keeping regular checks on him, while new Everton Director of Football is looking to bring some of the brightest talents in Europe to the club.
Arsenal on their part are confident of landing him, with their German head of recruitment Sven Mislintat who has a good track record and reputation with youngsters in Germany, and new reserve team head coach Per Mertesacker who is a former German international forming a strong German connection.
Vagnoman can play on the left or the right flank and is currently a Germany U-17 international, playing every single game of their last U-17 World Cup campaign.
