Arsenal are poised to make a third offer for Kieran Tierney after Celtic rejected their £25million bid, reports say. The Gunners are determined to land the Celtic left-back, but have struggled to meet the demands of the Scottish champions.
Celtic want £25m for Tierney and are refusing to budge after Arsenal proposed the idea of add-ons. Arsenal’s last bid would only hit the £25m mark if certain Champions League targets were met.
Celtic feel those add-ons were unrealistic and the Daily Mail claim Arsenal are set to return with an improved bid.
Arsenal will not raise their offer, but will commit to paying more of the £25m upfront. Should Tierney leave, he will become the Scottish Premiership’s most expensive sale, ahead of the £19.7m Lyon paid for Moussa Dembele last summer.
Arsenal are working with a restricted transfer budget of £45m this, which has left Unai Emery struggling to land his top targets. Arsenal, though, are confident they can prize Tierney away from Celtic. The 22-year-old defender has spent his entire pro career at Celtic, but is thought to be open to the idea of joining Arsenal.
Despite the budget woes, Arsenal are closing in on the signings of centre-back William Saliba and midfielder Dani Ceballos. However, the Ceballos deal will be a loan agreement and once Saliba has signed a contract with Arsenal he will return to Saint-Etienne for another season. Teenager forward Gabriel Martinelli is Arsenal’s only summer signing so far.
