Sam Greenwood, the 16-year-old striker, has traveled down to London to sign a scholarship deal with the Gunners ahead of being handed a professional contract.
Greenwood posted a picture on his Instagram story from outside Arsenal’s London Colney training ground confirming the deal is close to be concluded.
Reports last week claimed the Gunners were in pole position to sign the striker ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United who have also shown interest in signing him.
Greenwood scored six goals and provided six assists in 15 appearances for Sunderland in the under-18 Premier League last season.
Meanwhile, Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira have officially unveiled after passing medicals on Monday as completes a £26million move to the Emirates.
Torreira impressed for Uruguay at the World Cup until their quarter-final exit to France last week.
Arsenal are also said to be close to signing Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
Guendouzi, 19, is a French defensive midfielder who made 21 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
It brings a total of three players who are expected to undergo medicals at the North London Colney this week.
The signing of the trio would take Arsenal’s tally to six incomings so far this summer.
New boss Unai Emery has already brought in goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos and experienced right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.
