So the great debate goes on about England ahead of the World Cup Finals.
Just hours before their friendly against Germany, the usual banging of the drums begins with skipper Steven Gerrard now leading the patriotic attack.
He reckons England have learned a lot since their 4-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup three years ago and says “ we are moving forward and improving all the time.”
Well, excuse the doubts but can’t see that all.
Their 2-0 defeat to Chile on Friday showed all their shortcomings. England are not a good team and it’s time people realise it.
They have top stars in Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Jack Wilshere and maybe Daniel Sturridge. But after them, who would get into Brazil, Spain, Italy or Germany’s teams?
England may have given the world football but it’s time to realise they will probably never win anything ever again. They could have done it only for Sven Goran Eriksson to squander their golden generation with a series of tactical and team selection mistakes.
Their goalkeeper cannot even get into his club side and yet the team say they can be world beaters.
With a likely victory tonight by Germany, the examinations with start and may be time to get out of cloud cuckoo land.
