Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of both Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, with both players struggling with injuries in the international break.

Belgium striker Lukaku suffered a foot problem in training this week and, after being sent for a scan, HLN report that he will miss both of his nation’s matches against Russia and Cyprus.

The 25-year-old had already been forced to miss United’s FA Cup defeat to Wolves, and has now left the Belgium camp early to undergo rehabilitation.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already worrying about Anthony Martial, who withdrew from the France squad, and now Rashford appears to be yet another casualty.

According to The Mirror, the 21-year-old is a major doubt for England’s Euro 2020 qualifier against the Czech Republic on Friday night and is not expected to start.

Rashford is yet to overcome an ankle injury picked up against Liverpool at the end of February and has been playing through the pain ever since.

He sat out the Three Lions’ latest training session on Tuesday and is ‘struggling to twist and turn’, with his movement restricted.

While Rashford looks increasingly likely to be benched on Friday night, his injury has presented an opportunity for Jadon Sancho to make his first competitive start for England.

The Borussia Dortmund star, who ironically is on United’s summer transfer wish list, has impressed enormously in training this week, while the surprise call-up of Callum Hudson-Odoi is partly due to the concerns surrounding Rashford’s fitness.
