Gunners have reportedly been offered the opportunity to seal the surprise transfer of Man United centre-forward Romelu Lukaku. Rated at nearly £76m and heavily linked with Inter Milan for most of this transfer window, it now looks as though Belgium international could make his way to the Emirates Stadium instead.
Lukaku has not been at his best for Red Devils, despite long being regarded as one of the finest finishers in Europe for several years. Man United want to replace Romelu with Arsenal superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a direct swap deal.
The report claims Gunners coach Unai Emery has approved the move, and it looks like the deal could be edging closer. While Arsenal fans will be disappointed to lose Aubameyang, they’re signing a similarly established Premier League striker, who also happens to be a few years younger.
Red Devils have notably raided Gunners for star players like Alexis Sanchez and Robin van Persie in recent times, and a move for Aubameyang could be another excellent piece of business. Belgian striker, meanwhile, could be an excellent signing for the London club as the Spanish coach needs a bit more in the front-line next campaign.
Arsenal lost the Europa League final against Chelsea 4-1 and missed the chance to secure the Champions League group stage place. English club already signed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano this summer transfer window.
Gunners heavily linked with Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Bournemouth forward Ryan Fraser, Belgian superstar Yannick Carrasco and Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti.
