Arsenal are leading the race to sign Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti, according to Sport Witness
The report claim the Gunners are in pole position to sign the France international ahead of Roma.
Umtiti’s future at Barcelona has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks after the Frenchman’s injury hit season has seen him fall out of favour, even when fit.
Unai Emery has also made it clear that he would be interested in a deal for Umtiti by claiming that the 25-year-old is a ‘very good player’ in an interview with French television earlier this month.
But Bartomeu is adamant that Barca are planning to keep Umtiti. ‘He renewed him before the World Cup, he has four years left on his contract and there is no Umtiti issue,’ Bartomeu told TVE.
It has been rumoured in recent months that Shkodran Mustafi could be shown the door at the Emirates Stadium this summer. Bought for £35m in 2016, the World Cup winner has struggled to justify his transfer fee ever since and has been in and out of the team since Christmas.
Roma could move for Umtiti this summer if Kostas Manolas quits Serie A and joins Manchester United.
