Reports in the Mirror claims Arsenal will reportedly lock horns with Chelsea in signing Nicolas Pepe when the transfer window opens in summer.
The report claims the Blues are preparing to lose Eden Hazard who have been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in summer.
The Ivory Coast winger, 23, has made it clear to the French outfit that he wants to leave this summer. Lille have responded by slapping a £70million price tag on his head.
Pepe, who has a combined 30 goals and assists in the league this term, is also rumoured to be on the radar of both Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Lille are expecting to lose Pepe at the end of the season, with president Gerard Lopez admitting this week that the amount of money being mentioned – around the £70m mark – will be too much to turn down.
“All clubs are forced to balance their accounts except perhaps one. I would say yes, it is sure he [Pepe] will leave.
“He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to make for him, I think he will have the choice.”
Arsenal will surely be happy that Lille have made up their mind on selling off Nicolas Pepe at the end of the season but his price tag could make them shy out giving Chelsea pole advantage in signing him.
Nicolas Pepe joined Lille from Angers in 2017 and this season, he has become one of the most talked about players in European football.
