Arsenal manager Unai Emery has refused to hit back at Paul Merson over his comments as he insists he respects every opinion, according to the Metro.
Aaron Ramsey is set to leave the Emirates either in January or in the summer after the club revoked their contract offer to the Welshman.
Former Arsenal player Merson attacked the club for letting Ramsey’s contract situation get to this point.
‘It’s typical Arsenal isn’t it?’ he said.
“How can they let the contract of a quality player like that run down? They’ve done it too many times now.
‘When I was there, when there was 18 months or two years left on your contract you were called in for another one. My contract never, ever, went to less than 18 months at Arsenal.”
Arsenal have lost players in similar circumstances in recent times, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sold in the last year of their contracts while paying over the odds to keep Mesut Ozil.
Emery is not bothered however and brushed off the comments.
“I respect every opinion because our work is in the focus for analysis for a lot of people like journalists and like the ex players,’ he said.
‘In the football world this is how it is, I have this habit when I am doing well or when the people think it is not well.”
