Unbelievable – Villas Boas didn’t want Lamela at Tottenham!

Andre Villas Boas

Villas Boas is sacked, but problems in Tottenham didn’t solve by itself. Today’s news which pretty much shocked football press, is that Portuguese manager didn’t have a main role when we talk about player transfer policy.

In charge for that is ex Roma director, Franco Baldini. Baldini, of course, insisted on Lamela, who played for Roma too.

Bale’s transfer released a lot of money to be spent by Tottenham, Boas had one plan, Baldini another, and they found a solution that they will simply – split arriving players. Baldini choose four – Lamela, Chadli, Ericssen, Chrichles, and Boas wanted Paulinho, Capue and Soldado. Boas wanted Moutinho, Hulk and David Villa too, but he had to settle with the ones that came to club.

This is both interesting and informative (of course, if it is authentical), and explains why Lamela played so little time – because Boas didn’t want him.

Now is Tottenham without permanent coach, with a manager-caretacker Sherwood currently in charge. They are running out of time in all competitions, and if they want trophies, they will have to play a lot better from now.
