Arsenal have officially signed young defender Jason Sraha from Chelsea as they confirmed the capture of the player via their official website.
The Gunners, who are in dire need of quality defenders, confirmed that the 16-year-old completed his switch from the Cobham training ground (Chelsea) to the Emirates Stadium as one of the Gunners recent acquisitions ahead of next season.
However, it is revealed via the club’s official page that Sraha hasn’t signed a professional contract with the club as he’s yet to clock 17.
This means that the young teenager is on a scholarship with the Gunners until he professionally sign a new deal whenever he clocks 17.
Sraha has been with the Blues since he was eight but he surprisingly chose to port to the northern part of London, due to the obvious fact that youngsters have a brighter chances of playing for the first-team squad compared to the Blues who are known for their loan policy.
Sraha is expected to feature for the Gunners U18s and probably the club’s Premier League 2 side (U23s), depending on his performance for the cadet team.
Unai Emery has great plans for Hale End academy products having given U23 youngsters, including Bukayo Saka, Xavier Amaechi and Eddie Nketiah, the opportunity to feature for the senior team last season.
It won’t be too long that Sraha will make his first-team debut should he perform incredibly well with the youth setup next season.
