Arsenal officially announced the signing of Bayer Leverkusen goal stopper Bernd Leno
The deal was announced officially on the clubs website on Tuesday on the club’s official website ahead of the 2018/2019 season.
Leno becomes Unai Emery second major signing having cost the Gunners around €22m (£19.2m/$25m) in a new No. 1.
Aging Petr Cech, who is now 36, has been the last line of defence the last three seasons.
The 26-year-old missed out on a place in Germany’s World Cup squad but has proven himself to be one of the standout ‘keepers in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons.
Who is Bernd Leno?
Leno joined Leverkusen from Stuttgart in 2011, initially on loan before the move was made permanent a few months later, and has gone on to make 304 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
He made his debut less than a week after making the switch and became just the third goalkeeper to keep clean sheets in each of his first three Bundesliga matches.
The big question remains who is expected to make way for him is it, Petr Cech or David Ospina?
