Arsenal are understood to be amongst the queue of clubs battling out for the signature of Bordeaux winger Malcom.

The youngster is attracting even more attention this campaign with his performances far exceeding his impressive debut season in Ligue 1 following his arrival from Corinthians last year.

The 20-year-old joined Bordeaux from Corinthians in 2016 and enjoyed a promising first full season in France, scoring seven goals and creating another five. This season, he looks set to improve on that. He already has five goals and five assists in 15 appearances in all competitions which has top European clubs monitoring the player’s situation.

According to recent reports, the Gunners would need to see off competition from home and abroad to land the vastly talented winger.

It is Mercato365 via Daily Cannon, that has revealed Arsenal are up against domestic giants Manchester United and Chelsea as well as European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in showing an interest in the Brazilian who is valued at around £15m by the French side.

Gunners’ interest in the tricky winger comes with no surprise, with the star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil set to depart the Emirates in one of the next two windows, Wenger is understood to be monitoring a few top talents around Europe capable making an impact in North London.

Whilst Gooners would be pessimistic about our chances of coming out tops in a battle with several European giants to sign the player, it should also be remembered that it’s a different ball game entirely for Wenger when young players on a bargain are involved.

Whilst there is no denying the player’s unbelievable potential, the more important concern for me would be if Malcom is currently at a level where he could come in next year and adequately replace the departing Sanchez.
