Newcastle have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron, according to reports.
The Gunners are said to have been keeping tabs on Almiron for quite sometime, with the Mirror recently claiming Arsenal are lining up a concrete move but Arsenal could now face competition for the midfielder’s services.
According to Italian Newspaper Calcio Mercato, Inter Milan and Newcastle are both interested in Almiron.
It is believed that the United States based club Atlanta are willing to sell Almiron for around £15m.
The midfielder is already a full Paraguay international and at 23, he has the room to continue to improve.
Arsenal are known for signing top talents all over the world and turning them into world beaters, so it is safe to say that Almiron has the potential to be a great player for us to be interested.
However Newcastle’s interest could complicate things for us a bit. The Magpies will be able to promise him immediate first team football, which we won’t be able to offer him at the moment.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will actually step up its interest in the midfielder and if we do, whether the player will prefer to move to a club where he can learn from the best even though he will have to wait to get into the first team.
