Daniel Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia has revealed that Arsenal are showing interest in the Juventus defender, according to the Express.
The Gunners just concluded a very busy January transfer window which saw them sell Alexis Sanchez and a host of other players while bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mhikitaryan. In addition, they got Ozil to sign a new long term contract, ending all the speculations about his future.
However, with all this improvement in attack, the Gunners failed to add to their defensive numbers, with only youngster Konstantis Mavropanos signed in January and not good enough yet to challenge for a starting spot.
Wenger even admitted his regret at not signing a defender after failing with a deadline day bid for Jonny Evans, with the French manager saying: “Our defensive numbers aren’t good enough,” Wenger said last week.
“We needed strengthening because we have to improve our defensive numbers to make the top four.”
Daniel Rugani is currently contracted to Juve till 2021, and Wenger could try to bring him to the Emirates.
According to his agent, Arsenal have expressed their interest in him
“Daniele’s doing well, I’m happy for him,” Davide Torchia told Radio Sportiva.
“Arsenal? They didn’t launch any attempts for him.
“They expressed a liking for him but we have respect for Juventus.”
