Arsenal are understood to be monitoring Monaco defender Ruben Vinagre with the view of swooping for him next year.

The youngster is currently on loan at Wolverhampton Wonderers and is generating lots of interest in his services with his impressive performances thus far this season.

The left back who is currently a regular for the championship side continues to impress with matured performances well beyond his age despite having no prior experience of playing at senior level as he is yet to make an appearance for the Monaco senior team.

Recent reports have revealed that his form has put several top English clubs on red alert ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to Record via Metro who suggests both Arsenal and Manchester United are expressing strong interests in Vinagre but Monaco are determined to keep hold of the highly-rated teenager. The report also credits Everton with an interest in the player.

Wenger’s interest in the left back comes as no surprise, following the departure of Kieran Gibbs to West Bromwich Albion last summer and the successful conversion of Nacho Monreal to a central defender, the Gunners are looking light at the left back department with just Sead Kolasinac the only real option in the senior squad.

Vinagre looks like a top talent and is currently enjoying his spell at the Molineux having scored one goal in his eight appearances thus far. He has also made three appearances for Portugal’s Under-19 team and was part of the Under-17 side that won the European Championships last year.
