Juan Mata, a two year Player of the Season for Chelsea, is listed in the transfer list. Chelsea has decided to sell the Spaniard to rival Manchester United for $35 million.
Arsenal signed Real Madrid stand out,Mesut Ozil, in an effort to continue their impressive and dominating string of victories. Arsenal is dominating the league table with impressive wins. Ozil’s star is rising with the huge impact he is having in his Premier League performances.
In the meantime, defending champions Manchester United is struggling to secure a place in the Champions League. The question remains whether Mata will be able to help them retain their strength in England.
It is being rumored that Mata could be another Paul Scholes in Manchester United. Scholes was an outstanding player for Manchester United and was a major factor in helping them regain the title from Manchester City. Mata has a similar style of play and will create passes to the strikers from seemingly nowhere. If he ultimately signs with United, he will fit in nicely with Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj.
Chelsea already has too many midfielders, yet continues to buy them. Hazard, Willian and Oscar have transformed Chelsea’s midfield into a very dangerous world-class force.
This is obviously a profit move for both sides. Chelsea wants $35 million for Mata or a possible exchange for Wayne Rooney. Rooney has still not signed his new contract with Manchester United and so will leave the club at the end of season.
Jose Mourinho would like to sell Mata in the January transfer window, but Manchester United is not ready to part with Rooney just yet.
Like Rooney, we will have to wait for the reality to strike, whatever that may be.
